Andrea Skates White –Blues & Folk Art
Originally from the Mississippi Delta near Greenville, MS, Andrea Skates White now resides and paints in the beautiful town of Eureka Springs, Arkansas.
Influence came from an early age growing up the Mississippi Delta. The culture of the blues and folk was all around and it is something that has stayed with White her whole life.
White’s first major art experience in life was while living in Memphis, TN. Stumbling upon the opportunity she created a successful Faux Art business in the metro area for more than 10 years. After this experience she then migrated back to the Mississippi Delta where she began painting on canvas.
After having to paint within the lines for so long, Folk and Blues art were two of the main genres that White has enjoyed with the freedom and flow of expression that it allows. This influence and experience with canvas art is what has eventually led White to the beautiful mountains of Northwest Arkansas.
Over time she has shown her work in a multiple of spaces including the B.B. King museum in Indianola, MS.
Her online gallery of past and present works can be viewed at her website andreaskateswhite.com
The Art-Niks Story
Artist Suzanne Reed passionately explores glass art through the combination of fused glass with metal and other materials. Through continued experimentation she discovers innovative and unique techniques for creating both artistic and functional art. The integration of additional materials, primarily metal, into the world of glass creates one-of-a-kind art.
Suzanne builds upon her experiences of working and living around the globe to inspire art pieces representing the diverse colors, textures and patterns from different cultures. She turns the often chaotic physical environment of far-away places into a geometric representation through her art. Her background and inquisitive nature provides an opportunity for Art-Niks to grow, create and meet the needs of every client, no matter where their imagination takes them.
Suzanne splits her time creating art in Arkansas, West Virginia, North Carolina and Berlin Germany. She continues traveling around the USA and the world to find new ideas and inspiration, constantly designing new pieces, trying innovative techniques and using different combinations of materials.
After successfully battling breast cancer in recent years, she knows the value of making every minute count. She exhibits this élan in every piece she creates.
“I worked with communities in developing countries and helped them generate solutions for issues they faced. I was fortunate to meet and work with a variety of artists in the most challenging locations. I experienced the physical environment in which they were able to create amazing works of art. The dedication and passion these artists demonstrated in some amazingly difficult situations inspired me and helped me make my dream a reality. Thanks for joining the Art-Niks family!” ~ Suzanne
